Greek – Pneuma & Hebrew – Ruach = Both have similar meanings: Breath, Wind, Spirit. Many deep details can be leaned when these words are studied, however…One thing they have in common, they represent the invisible. I personally believe biblical studies show this is the eternal part of man. Genesis 2:7 “The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life”.
*Soul:
Greek – Psuche – Psyche, & Hebrew – Nephesh = “Measurable Life” deepest study meaning is “Throat”. This is not the eternal part of man, these words mean the “Mind, Will & Emotions of man. In other words, “Throat” represents what comes in and goes out of man. Proverbs 4:23 “Guard your heart {command center of the soul} with all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life.
*Body:
Greek – Somah / Sarx, & Hebrew – Basar = These both have the implication of the “Flesh part of man, whether dead or living. I Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit” Genesis 3:19 “From dust you were made, and to dust you shall return.
